Did you know that February is National Grapefruit Month? Seems there is a month for everything because it also happens to be National Cherry and National Snack Food Month. Since we are always looking for an excuse to celebrate with food and wine, we’re hopping on the Grapefruit bandwagon today and featuring another great recipe from our Pinterest page.
We love that citrus is in season in the cold winter months. Just a squeeze of lemon, orange or grapefruit and – BAM! – we’re transported to bright, sunny days. Fortunately, this easy recipe contains three citrus fruits, all of which should be easy to find and relatively inexpensive this month. All you’ll need is a bottle of something bright, spritzy and fruity (we’re thinking Isabel and Moscato would be perfect) to take make this fruit salad sublime.
Winter Citrus Salad
Recipe courtesy of Bon Appetit
Cut away the peel and white pith from 2 navel oranges, 1 blood orange, and 1 pink grapefruit. Cut between the membranes to release citrus segments. Combine segments in a small bowl. Top with 1 Tbsp chopped, toasted almonds and ½ tsp finely minced fresh rosemary.
We recommend serving this alongside grilled salmon, chicken or sautéed scallops.
