Wine, Camera, Action!

On this day, 18 years ago, there is a good chance I was at the movie theater.  I feel like I was always there as a teenager.  With very limited incomes (as in allowances) and years away from being legal adults, my friend’s and my choices for entertainment were few.   But we could always count on the movies.  In the summer, we were there two or three times a week, sometimes – at the cheaper matinees, of course.  After high school I went to college where I had a lot more homework and a lot more freedom, so my cinema trips were fewer.  You get the picture: years pass, you get a job which turns into a career, marriage, kids and suddenly you can’t remember the last time you went to the movies. That’s me today.  I go, maybe, once a year now – no, I’m serious – but I still love it as much as my teenage self.  No matter how much time goes by, I love the entire experience of going to a movie – the popcorn, the previews (my fave), the energy a packed theater provides, and those awesome high-back seats that are pretty much standard now.

What Ponte Winery is doing on September 12th puts a smile on my face for many reasons.  At their 4th annual family-friendly movie night, they are welcoming Wine Club Members and guests to bring their families into Temecula wine country and enjoy a feature film under the stars.  As a mother whose own movie trip-restrictions are mostly the direct result of having a toddler, I’m tickled that this is an event where little’s are welcome.  Admission is free (FREE!), no reservations are required, and all of the proceeds from wine and concession sales support Team Ponte’s fundraising efforts for Rancho Damacitas.  Team Ponte will be running in the 2014 Mission Inn 5K, 10K and ½ Marathon this November.  You can learn more about it here.

Bring a blanket or chair, an appetite, a sweater for nightfall, and get ready to belly laugh your way through Despicable Me 2.  No kids?  No problem!  Our movie night has been drawing couples, first dates and girlfriend-outings for four years now.  Moral of the story: it’s good, clean wine country fun that absolutely everyone will love.  We hope to see you there!
