What Happened in July

What a month it’s been!  So many exciting things took place/are taking place at Ponte in mid-summer.  Here’s a little re-cap of what you may have missed:

We planted a tomato garden!

The plants are growing beautifully and are ready to be staked (aka – they’re getting heavy and will soon begin producing fruit).  You’ll see these babies at our three eateries in the near future.

Did someone say “olive oil?”

Yup, we did…we have planted 1,200 olive trees.  And that means we’ll be producing our own artisanal olive oil.  Now, we don’t expect the first bottles to be ready until 2015. Good things take time, after all.  But can’t you just see it…glorious green extra virgin olive oil drizzled over greens, garden tomatoes, a perfectly grilled rib eye, baked into a citrus cake.  We cannot wait!

Movie Night for Charity

We hosted our third annual movie night this month to raise money for Rancho Damacitas.  Tons of you came to support us and we raised thousands, woo hoo!  We showed “The Lorax”, a great movie with a great message, and we consumed lots and lots of candy, popcorn and of course wine.  Thanks to all who came out!

Is that purple we spy?

Veraison is happening as we speak.  “Verai –who?” you ask.  It’s when grapes start to ripen and turn from green to purple.  And that can only mean one thing: harvest is just around the corner. And new wines are that much closer to your lips.

Beverino blows up

Why didn’t we do this ages ago?  It’s only fitting that we offer our most popular wine in a great big behemoth bottle and so we are.  Our 2012 Beverino is now for sale in a 1.5L size bottle.  That’s the equivalent of two regular sized bottles of wine.  This is big.  Very big.  But it’s only for a limited time so buy it now here.

Phew!  What could possibly top all that next month?   Well, with harvest approaching there will be plenty going on and we hope you can make it out to visit us during this very exciting time of year.

Cheers!
