Ponte welcomes the newest addition to our family, our electric bus! The Vineyard Bus Tour is an hour long Bus Tour through our 310 acres of vineyards. This ride offers 12 guests comfortable seating, wine tastings, and even more to the experience of the country. Let me share my experience:
When I first arrived at Ponte, I could not fully picture the extent of the property. I saw the Tasting Room, the Restaurant at Ponte and the Inn. There were a few vines surrounding these areas but nothing to the extent of our vineyard. Michele, our Vineyard Manager, took me on my first ride out through the vineyard to show me what seemed to be endless acres of vineyard. Since that first ride, I’ve worked a harvest night, done my research, and learned about Ponte and am now excited to lead the tour to show you the sustainable growing and winemaking practices!
This tour shows you the majority of our estate with grape vines, compost and landscape piles, surrounding orchards, natural landscapes and distant mountains. Along the ride, you learn all about the history of Ponte and our grape growing process – call it a brief viticulture course without the exam. During this time, not only will you see the vines producing red and white grapes, we’ll stop the bus and let you try them. But hurry to see this, as it is harvest season, the grapes are ripening and being picked. You may even catch the work being done.
Then, as if you were a grape cluster, just harvested from the vineyard, you will continue your tour through the tank yard where we’ll show you our machines that process, press, and ferment the grapes. Then, you will continue into the barrel room where you will learn about the aging process with a tasting straight out of an oak barrel.
With this new knowledge, you will have a new appreciation for all of the factors that go into making the wine. Here’s a scoop on the deeper philosophy: there is a ying and yang to wine, the acid and fruit that is experienced through taste and aroma is balanced. This balance is best developed through proper vineyard management. Through this tour, you’ll get that understanding and appreciate the process that goes into making Ponte wine.
Hope you can join us and see for yourself! Call (951) 694-8855 to schedule a tour any day of the week.
