Trust Your Wine Instincts

For as long as we’ve been in business we’ve operated by the motto, “If you like it, it’s good wine.” Never big on wine competitions or having our wines ranked, Ponte strongly believes in the opinions of our guests and Wine Club Members when it comes to our wine.  Turns out, we’ve been doing something right.

According to a 2014 UC Davis study involving both wine experts and “regular folks” who tasted 27 different bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, the results were all over the place.   The experts mostly liked all the same wine, while the Regular Joes liked a wide spectrum of different price points, labels and tastes.  It turns out regular folks are better off trusting their own preferences to choose wines they like, rather than relying on “expert” advice which has become quite narrow (and expensive!).

Translation: IF YOU LIKE IT, IT’S GOOD WINE, no matter what anyone else thinks of it.

Let’s be clear: yes, quality wine matters to every winery & tasting room.  I mean, that’s our product.   However,  what we’re offering here at 35053 Rancho California Road is a total experience.  That experience includes the wine, the service, the scenery, the food,  and the hotel – everything you sees here.  Because of that, we put the highest standards of care into each of those elements, including the wine.   We go through many, many tastings behind the scenes until we feel the wines are just right.  But you are the final judge.

The Ponte winemaking team wonders:  will you like it?

We could have a bushel of gold medals on display but we don’t really care and do’t think you should either.   So long as you are happy with the wine, we’re happy.
