This Year’s Wedding Trends at The Hotel Del Bridal Show

On March 17th, the Special Events team took part in one of the most fabulous bridal shows in southern California: The Wedding Party Bridal Show at the Hotel Del Coronado, in San Diego.  Any show taking place at this legendary landmark hotel is sure to be fantastic, right?  It didn’t disappoint!  We saw some amazing booths, were able to meet Grace Ormonde (THE Wedding Guru) and Monte Durham from Say Yes to The Dress: Atlanta, and learned about what trends are making a presence this year. Since we are quickly approaching our very busy wedding season, I felt it only fitting to tell you a little about the Top 5 Wedding trends we will soon be seeing:

1. Boho Chic- Giant Headpieces

Models hit the runway in beautiful lace, ribbon and floral headpieces. Some included a headband that stretched around the entire head and others were adorned with huge barrettes. Each one definitely made bold statements, but it was one in particular that the crowd absolutely embraced:

2. Linen-less Tables

The less linen the better! Wooden tables, ultra-modern white or clear tables, etc. are making their way into the bridal world. As time progresses, the look of linen is becoming less popular. The focus has become more on the floral arrangements…and of course, the bride herself!

3. Serpentine and Other Neat Table Shapes

Why use a rectangular table, when you can use half-moon tables to create lots of different and unique shapes? Such a great idea to use for a buffet line!

4. DIY (Do It Yourself) Decorations

We have Pinterest to thank for the emergence of DIY. Brides are LOVING getting to tap into their creative side and hand-make most of their decorations instead of purchasing it all. The best part about DIY? It will be unique to you!

5. Gold Wedding Dresses

This one shocked us all! Next time you are wedding dress shopping, why not try on a gold dress, you may be surprised…we were!

I cannot wait to see all these trends make their way to Ponte!
