For a long time, all the wines we produced were available to Members and guests alike. Sure, we recognized our Wine Club Members in special ways and they certainly got the first peeks (and first sips) of most of our vintages. But wines exclusively for them? That was rare. Until recently.
There are currently six wines, yes six, available to Ponte Wine Club Members only. Translation: if you ain’t in the club, you ain’t gettin’ ‘em.
In no particular order, they are:
A wine for every night of the week…with a day of rest. You might think, “A wine is a wine is a wine.” Oh no. These are some of our finest, most original, and smallest produced wines on our list. For example, Vernaccia Nera is a sparkling red. That’s right, a delicious red wine with bubbles. How’s that for a special occasion wine? Flavors of jam, dried flowers and ripe red berries highlight our Vernaccia Nera.
Our newest addition, Mistela, is a fortified wine which means it has been made with a spirit – spirit liquor, not spirit ghost.
Sweet wine fans, you are in for a treat! This golden-hued dessert wine has notes of poached pears, apricot compote and hazelnuts. It’s been produced from the Vermentino grapes grown on our ranch. Drink this baby by itself or with cheese and dried fruit.
Torrontes is an incredibly unique white wine. The grapes were grown in Salta, Argentina, a very high altitude terrain that produces unique flavors and aromas that just can’t be duplicated anywhere else in the world. Think floral, apricot and orange blossom. It is a remarkably distinct, delicious and unforgettable white wine that you’ll be glad you joined the Club for.
Our other Argentina ex-pat is Malbec whose grapes come from a vineyard in Mendoza that has been farmed for over 100 years. Naturally watered by snow melt from the Andes Mountains, the grapes produce a truly exceptional red wine that we’re sure is among the best in the world. We also have a very limited amount of 2008 Grand Reserve Malbec for those who really want to treat themselves.
Until recently, the Angry Wife wines were only available to Claudio Ponte and his friends, who got together every year to make the wine themselves. After years of requests, he finally relented and made these blended wines available to Ponte Wine Club Members. Don’t ask what grapes are used to make the wines, though, that is one secret Claudio is not relenting on!
