Run, Ponte, Run!

Not all of us are born runners.  We all know it’s good for us, that it burns major calories and all, but some of us can’t see past the huffing and puffing, the side aches and exhaustion that comes with running.  Actual runners are a fierce breed.  They are very loyal to their sport and all agree on one thing: they are not born runners either.  It takes training and practice and commitment.  The side aches and pains get better, the periods of exhausted walking get shorter and soon enough, you’re subscribing to Runner’s World Magazine, investing in really cool shoes and signing up for your city’s marathon!  Hey, you’re a runner!  Not convinced?  That’s okay, there is a spot for walkers on Team Ponte, too.

Team Ponte! Always looking to add more members.

Team Ponte – Ponte Winery’s fundraising team of runners/walkers that consists of associates, guests and Wine Club Members – will be participating in the Mission Inn 10K, 5K and Half Marathon on November 9th.  Through sponsorship and donations, Team Ponte will raise much needed funds for Rancho Damacitas, a Temecula-based 24-hour recovery home for abused and neglected kids.  For much of the year, Team Ponte trains, holds fundraisers (like our recent Family Movie Night) and prepares for the big run.  Over the last two years they have raised over $50,000 for Rancho Damacitas, and it is their goal to raise another $25,000 by November 9th.

Each Wednesday at 5:45 pm, Team Ponte meets in the Tasting Room to gather for a vineyard run (or walk), and invites anyone and everyone to join them.  It’s a great chance to meet new people and get in some exercise time, not to mention see amazing sunset views of Temecula wine country.  Why not stay with us for dinner at The Cellar Lounge while you’re here?  All experience levels are welcome, just bring your running shoes.

Still not convinced?  That’s okay, too.  You can still participate in making a positive impact on the kids at Rancho Damacitas by donating to this very special home.  You can sponsor an individual member of Team Ponte or make a general donation here.  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Learn more about Rancho Damacitas here.

We hope you can join us in supporting Rancho Damacitas by running, walking or donating to the fund!
