Invitations that Make a Statement

Have you ever given thought to how much paper is involved in the production of a wedding? Think about it, you have the save the dates, the actual invitation, ceremony programs, escort cards which are used to get your guests to the table, place cards so your guests know which seat to sit in at the table, the table names or numbers, favor tags which are placed with each favor to say “thank you”, and a whole lot more if your are really into the details. That’s a whole lot of paper! Okay, now think about it again. That’s a whole lot of opportunity for you and your fiancé to make a statement about the most important day of your lives together! Do you see where I’m going with this?

I must admit, ordering stationery is one of my favorite tasks when it comes to wedding planning. I think the reason I have such a huge passion for stationery is that it was the one thing that used to keep me up late at night as I planned my own wedding. I would hunt through magazines and come up with nothing. I remember doing a Google search for wine country wedding invitations and lots of stuff would come up but nothing displayed the elegance I wanted to convey with my invitations. Instead I would find countless invitations with cheesy purple grapes and wine bottles. I knew this would never do for my wedding. If I found something I even remotely liked, it would not be available in my color scheme. Or they were not able to sell me the remaining stationery items to match my ensemble. I would search the Internet until the wee hours hunting for the perfect invitation. I would get so involved in my search that I would not be able to sleep. It’s pretty silly when you think about it, but it’s the truth! Looking back now, I think my husband must have thought I was insane. So, what’s a girl to do?

I will tell you. Select a full-service design company that will work with you one on one to custom create your perfect wedding stationery. One such company that takes great care in doing this is Jonathan Mayer and his team at the Innovation Companies. In designing a one of a kind wedding invitation that will be sure to impress your guests, they begin the process by first learning about you and your fiance, your passions, what is significant to the two of you and your own ideas for your event. They then incorporate unique materials in the design of your invitation. What types of materials you ask? Well, all sorts of different materials. This is a company that thinks outside of-the-box and uses their backgrounds in music, fashion, advertising and design to develop one of kind creations. Check out the photo below. This invitation was constructed using layered plexiglass. Some of the print is on one side and other portions of the print are on the reverse side, causing a stunning layered effect. Is that impressive or what? It’s also light in weight yet remarkable in presence.

At Innovation Companies, it’s not just the invitations that are amazing, it’s the packaging as well. Check out the packaging for the below invitations. Can you just imagine how excited your guests would be about your upcoming nuptials if they received an invitation from you packaged like one of these?

These gorgeous invitation displayed below were designed by doing engravings on a steel material and then layered upon a rich textured fabric. Are you in love yet? I know I am!

They had a client that wanted to create some real excitement about their upcoming event. The team at Innovation Companies was able to deliver by designing an invitation that incorporated a heat sensitive material. As you held the invitation, it created a thermal print on the invitation via the heat of your hands. I guess you really have to feel it to understand. However, I can personally tell you it was quite extraordinary!

Below is a favorite of mine. This modern design incorporates the use of bold colors and striking fabrics. The tiny threads which compliment the color scheme are not only exquisite in design, but they are also functional in holding together the response and map/direction cards.

The team at Innovation Companies always strives to make a statement with their designs. They love to create anticipation for your guests. That means working with you to design a save the date that gets your guests excited about your upcoming event. They then build upon that excitement with the invitation itself and then following through to create the remaining ensemble that will be unveiled on your wedding day.

Allison Howell, Director of Business Development for the Innovation Companies was kind enough to show me their extensive portfolio. As someone that truly appreciates wedding stationery, I can tell you I fell head over heals in love with all of their original designs. However, one in particular stole my heart! It’s partially because of the story behind the invitation; either way, the invitation was beautiful. This specific couple were huge art lovers. They had a favorite painting which was created by the groom’s grandfather. The team at Innovation Companies built upon the couple’s favorite painting by incorporating a silhouette of a couple dancing. The image was first presented in the save the date and followed by the invitation. The image made its way through all of the couple’s ceremony and reception items but the thing that tied it all together was the actual painting which was on display at the couple’s reception. As the guests entered the reception and saw the painting, they were all in awe of how the couple creatively tied it all together. This is a prime example of a couple that used their wedding stationery to make a statement about what was important to them.

Now it’s your turn to make your own statement and tell your own story. If you are a bride or groom with a vision of your perfect wedding invitation, I encourage you to check out the Innovation Companies. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
