Festive Fall Wine Flights

If you think about it, a traditional session of wine tasting is picking and choosing your own wine flight. A wine flight allows you to taste a bit of multiple wines in order to compare flavors and choose which ones you like best. Some restaurants and wine bars offer flights, but they usually choose the wines you’ll taste. Most times, the flights are themed: Chardonnays from France, Sparkling Wines from Napa, A Journey Through Germany, just to name a few that I’ve encountered. Our new, Fall-Inspired Flights are themed, too, but ours come in bottles and are perfect for everything from fall feasts for two to Halloween parties for twenty.

Green Goblin

Start with a creamy butternut squash soup topped with garlicky croutons, then dive into classic roast chicken with root vegetables. End with caramel pot de crème. The two wines in our Green Goblin Flight will be perfect all throughout your meal. 2015 Chardonnay is a full-bodied white wine with flavors of tangerine and mango with hints of hazelnut. 2015 Pinot Grigio is light and crisp with flavor notes of pear and yellow peach. This flight also includes the yummiest-smelling candle from Capri Blue.

Candied Apple

What goes better with Fall than a candy apple? Perhaps pumpkin pie, but anyway, our Candied Apple Wine Flight includes three Ponte wines perfect for sipping fireside. Port NV is a red wine with notes of butterscotch, hazelnut and dried figs. A little goes a long way with this fortified wine, which has been made with brandy. Port is excellent with chocolate and strong, aged cheeses like English Stilton. 2015 Moscato is a refreshing, sparkling white wine that bursts with apricot and nectarine flavors. Great all day, from making Mimosas to pairing with key lime pie. 2015 Pinot Grigio delights with tart green apple acidity. A good partner for seafood, vegetables and anything topped with creamy sauce.

Two unexpected red wines make an appearance in Wickedly Delicious. 2015 Vernaccia Nera is Ponte’s sparkling red wine. Medium-bodied, fizzy and lightly sweet with a kick of spice, this daring wine is best served chilled with desserts and salty cheeses. 2013 Petite Sirah is perfect for any big-red wine lover. This robust wine is packed with flavors like prune, molasses and vanilla oak. Great with lamb, steak and cheeses.

Fireside Feast

The Fireside Feast Flight is designed for full houses and holiday tables. This mix of red and white wines is sure to please all tastes and palates and even includes a bottle of sweet red wine for dessert courses. Included is 2015 Angry Wife White, 2015 Chardonnay, 2013 Sangiovese, 2013 Petite Sirah and Beverino NV.

Sweet Harvest Indulgence

While the kids are gorging on candy on Halloween night, let the adults enjoy something sweet, too, with this trio of pleasantly sweet wines. We think Sweet Harvest Indulgence is also perfect for cool fall baking days. 2014 Beverino Bianco is a full-bodied, white, sweet wine that bursts with flavors of apricot, honey, apple and orange blossom. NV Beverino is our classic, red, subtly sweet wine that tastes great both chilled and at room temperature. This vintage is a blend with delicious notes of black raspberry and boysenberry pie. 2014 Late Harvest is a long-time favorite that tastes of blueberry cobbler with a hint of chocolate.
