Expanding Horizons: Three Unique Wines to Discover at Bouquet

If you have had a chance to visit Bouquet Restaurant or the Cellar Lounge at Ponte Vineyard Inn, you probably know that in addition to everyone’s favorite Ponte wines, we also have a list of wines from around the world.  Of course everyone has their favorites when it comes to wine (who doesn’t love relaxing with a glass of Chardonnay or a nice bold Cabernet with a meal?), but sometimes it’s fun to explore something new and different. With great wines from Italy, Spain, Argentina, and throughout California available at Bouquet, there is plenty of variety to choose from. Here are three unique wines that you may not have heard of before to check out the next time you stop by for a visit and want to drink outside the box.

Librandi Ciro Greco Bianco is an awesome, warm weather white to sip when you want to break away from the usual Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. Made with 100% Greco Bianco grapes grown in Calabria, Italy, this wine is fresh, lively, and full of tropical fruit flavors. The pairing potential for this wine is endless. Try it with our compressed watermelon salad or our burrata caprese to start and enjoy it with an entree of sea scallops or almond crusted sea bass.

Azienda Agricola COS Frappato is another treat to enjoy from Italy. Made with 100% Frappato grapes, native to Sicily, this is a truly unique red that has been described as tasting similar to a combination of Pinot Noir and Syrah. It’s lighter bodied with plush berry fruit flavors, a little bit of spice, and a hint of roses. This is an incredible food wine that will go with just about anything on the menu, but our roasted beet salad and truffle stuffed quail are two pairings that are not to be missed.

Torres Celeste Tempranillo is a bold red from Ribera del Duero, Spain and is a great option for Cabernet and Merlot drinkers looking for something different. Made with 100% Tempranillo, this is a rich, complex wine with lots of dark fruit flavors along with hints of pepper and licorice. It’s a perfect match for equally rich dishes. Try it with our beef carpaccio appetizer and then pair it with our balsamic glazed chicken breast or beef tenderloin.
