Do You Trust Me?

I am about to share with you one of my favorite snacks. I am warning you because this tasty treat is not for the faint of heart.

I love – no, LOVE – ice cream with pepperoncinis. Not mixed together in the same bowl, but eaten at the same time. A bite of ice cream followed by a pepperoncini. The cool and creamy sweetness of the ice cream totally balances the slightly spicy tartness of the pepperoncinis and I am content.

My guess is that right about now you are completely taken aback, and probably also wondering why in the world anyone would want to share this revolting food combination. You didn’t ask, so why did I share? To demonstrate, rather embarrassingly, that we all have different tastes.

Which brings me to my next question. Why would you take a wine recommendation from someone you’ve never met? How do you know that there isn’t an ice cream and pepperoncini eater on the tasting panel? You don’t, which is why wine tasting is so important. So, next time someone tells you that you have to try a wine that Robert Parker gave 96 points, try it. And then decide for yourself if it is something that you like.
