So, right now, there’s a video that’s gone viral and it’s spreading across social media. It shows a woman who highlights the change in a mom’s emotions over the first day of school. First, she is distraught, crying and on the verge of turning around to pick up her child who she’s just dropped off for his first day of Kindergarten. “He’s only five!” she cries. “He’s not ready! What if he can’t carry his lunch tray?” Cut swiftly to her impression of mothers on the first day of school after the Kindergarten year and she is singing George Michael’s Freedom, and looking forward to, “manicures, pedicures, Vegas!” Most moms can relate! Yes, the season best known as “back to school” is upon us. Early mornings? Yes. But after drop off, hey, it’s on. What to do with this newly found free time? Bills, groceries, errands – sure, but blah blah blah – can we start with something fun? It’s been a loooong summer of activities that cater solely to the littles, so let’s do something for and with adults.
The Tasting Room at Ponte. Wine tasting… yes, please!
Grab your fellow carpoolers and head over to Ponte. You have a few fabulous options:
Enjoy a wine country breakfast at Bouquet, Ponte Vineyard Inn’s stellar restaurant. Crab Omelets, Vegetable Frittatas, French Toast, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes along with a steaming cup of coffee are a great start to the day.
Almond-crusted French Toast at Bouquet. Served with a side of limoncello-infused syrup…
Treat yourself to a mid-day wine tasting session. You and your friends can take your time at the Tasting Counter (much less busy during the week) and taste up to six Ponte wines. Pick your favorites and head home with a few bottles. Hey, you’ll need a reward on long nights of homework helping and last minute science projects.
Six pours. Your choice.
Lunch. The best lunch in wine country is found at The Restaurant at Ponte, recipient of multiple awards and always highlighting the best and freshest ingredients of the season. The Charcuterie and Cheese Platter plus a bottle of wine to share is our pick of the moment for a light and lovely lunch. But there are numerous other options, each just as fantastic as the next, like our shareable Calamari appetizer, shown below. See the full menu here.
Fried Calamari at The Restaurant at Ponte… Perfect for sharing!
Not local? No problem. If there’s ever a time to justify ordering some of your favorite wine right to your doorstep, it’s now. Keep it all for yourself and sip away while you enjoy the peace and quiet of an empty house, or have your friends over for a late morning brunch/lunch after school drop off.
Happy Back to School, everyone! We hope to see you soon.
