An Operatic Evening for a Good Cause

Pavarotti, Domingo, Fleming, Callas…can you see a theme here?

If you guessed “opera” you hit the bingo.  These are the names of some of the most iconic opera singers in history.  We at Ponte love opera.  It’s an art form that is soul-wrenching, tear-jerking, and spirit-lifting all at the same time.  Oh yes, and it’s so very Italian.

We are so honored to be hosting an incredible fundraiser this month, Opera at the Vineyards, organized by the Performing Arts Guild Alliance.  On Sunday, February 23rd, Ponte’s Barrel Room will be transformed into a grand opera house where a luncheon will be served and wine will be available for purchase.   There will also be some very nice auction items up for bidding, such as concert tickets and jewelry.  The highlight of the event will, of course, be live opera performances from Kylena Parks, Daniel Emmet, and Austria’s Scholoss Mirabel Competition winner, Kevin Gino.  They will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Cheryl Lin Fielding and violinist Yang Li Bartolotti.  The evening’s entertainment will be organized by Chapman University’s Director of Operatic Studies, Dr. Peter Atherton, and will include arias, duets and ensembles from works by Bellini, Donizetti, Offenbach, Mozart and others.

The Alliance has also chosen an exciting theme for Opera at the Vineyards: Carnival!  In anticipation of the upcoming Carnival season, they encourage guests to find their inner whimsy and don their favorite mask and costume.  For guests who opt not to wear a costume, cocktail attire is requested.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Performing Arts Guild Alliance, who provides financial support for the musical education of children in grades K-12 and the Mt. San Jacinto College Performing Arts program.  Through various fundraisers such as Opera at the Vineyards, the Alliance has provided their programs to nearly 80,000 school children in 70 schools absolutely free.  This is truly a unique opportunity for guests and a tremendous cause for our local children.  We so hope you will be there!

Opera at the Vineyards will take place in Ponte Winery’s Barrel Room on Sunday, February 23rd at 2:00 pm.  The donation is $95 per person.  For questions and tickets, please contact the Performing Arts Guild Alliance at (951) 927-0395.  Tickets will go quickly and seating is limited – kindly reserve yours by February 13th.
