2015 Team Ponte!

Most of you know about our longstanding relationship with Rancho Damacitas.  For the last several years, we have participated in an annual run (5K’s, ½ Marathons) in San Diego and neighboring counties, to raise money for this very special organization which provides shelter, care and education to local children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse. We feel that supporting these children is not only important, but necessary.  These kids are amazing; they are the future of our community and they are worth every effort we put forward for them.  This year, we are thrilled to be co-hosting a half marathon that is a little closer to home.  On November 21st, Ponte Winery, Wilson Creek Winery and Destination Races will be hosting the Wine Country Half Marathon and Relay.  As in the past, every penny we raise will directly benefit Rancho Damacitas.

This isn’t some little event that we’ll spring out of bed for come 11/21.  We’ve been training since June 24th along with Wine Club Members, family, friends and guests.  Together wemake up Team Ponte and, guess what? It’s not too late to join!  Every Wednesday at 5:45 pm we meet in front of the Tasting Room for training.  You can walk, you can run, you can have a glass of wine at The Cellar Lounge after, if you’d like! Our training route is a 3.1 mile loop and many of us make the loop twice to get in 6.2 miles worth of training.

Don’t worry, you won’t get lost on the training course.

Wednesday night is truly the highlight of ourweek.  We have met so many new people and there is always someone new to meet every week…why not be one of them? Lots of our participants use this time as a pleasant way to stay in shape, chat with friends or simply watch the gorgeous Temecula sunset.

On November 21st, we’ll meet bright and early at the starting line, which is located atPonte.  After 13.1 miles of running (and walking) through stunning Temecula wine country, we will cross the finish line at Wilson Creek Winerywhere a wine and music festival will ring in our triumph. At that point, wehope to have beaten our previous donation record for Rancho Damacitas at over$25,000. We know we can do it, but we need your help!

By all means, join us! No reservations are necessary for training, please just show up ready to walk or run and have awonderful time. For more information on the Wine Country Half Marathon and to register, please click here.
