Pair the Longest Day of the Year with a Glass of White Wine

We made it past winter. We’ve made it through spring. Today, we welcome (with open arms) summer! It’s time to break out the sun tan lotion, polish off your beach volleyball skills and of course uncork that wine that you’ve been eyeing.

We mark the first day of the summer with the summer solstice, which of course is the longest day of sunlight of the year. From here on out, every day will be a bit shorter, so what do you do with that extra “fun in the sun”? We have a few suggestions if you happen to find yourself in Temecula Wine Country:

Option #1:

Drink wine. White wine. It’s warm and sunny out so it’s a perfect time to enjoy that glass of Chardonnay or Vermentino on your patio. Today is the perfect day to stock up on those white wines too. For today only, your white favorites are 30% off for members. Head to the Tasting Room or Online Store before the end of the day.

Option #2:

Make some s’mores. Grab your kids start up a fire in your fire pit, or maybe an old washing machine drum if you have one (kidding). You know the ingredients; chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows, but how about adding a twist on this American classic. Try using a flavored chocolate! Maybe a salted or spicy chocolate for the adults and a traditional style for the kids. If you need some truly interesting chocolate ideas, stop by the Tasting Room and take a look at all of the neat chocolate bars that we carry.

Option #3:

Have the longest BBQ of the year. Invite the neighbors over, pour some wine, fire up the grill and let the grill master do the rest. It’s the perfect chance to catch up with your friends and family and let your kids work off some of their summer energy they usually let out on the school yard. Try pairing some of your grilled meats with one of our reds like a Barbera to add that extra little something to the longest day of the year.

I hope you enjoy your summer solstice as much as I’ll be enjoying mine. Options 1, 2 and 3 sound good to me. It may sound like a lot, but with that extra hour there isn’t an excuse.
