Food, Food and More Food

What do we love almost as much as wine?

Food!

It should come as no surprise that many people who work here at Ponte Winery have a passion for food. Just check out the menus at The Restaurant, Bouquet or The Cellar Lounge. Food enhances the flavors in wine, just as wine enhances the flavors in food.

If you’ve been to our Tasting Room you may be aware that our main management office is just up the stairs in the back. While we in the Marketing, Wine Club and Tasting Room departments are working hard to make sure we are bringing you the best of wine country, we also take breaks here and there. The usual topic of discussion? Food! We regularly share recipes, bring in our latest gluten-free or grain-free (depending on the week’s diet) baked goods or share stories about whatever amazing dish we had over the weekend. There’s often a hot seasonal ingredient involved (we got a little ridiculous about pumpkin this past Fall) and on really good days, we might even call in an order to Spuntino’s, the best local pizza in town…besides ours of course.

Since you are reading this, it’s probably safe to assume that you are a person who enjoys reading blogs. So are we! We love food blogs and regularly use them to swap recipes. Here are a few of our favorites. Enjoy!

Food 52

The food photos alone make our mouths water. This site is great for finding recipes based on a particular ingredient. Bought too many brussels sprouts at last week’s Farmer’s Market? No worries, Food52 has a search feature. A search for ‘brussels sprouts’ returns hundreds of unique ideas on what to do with them.

Also, if you are on the “kale” bandwagon and you love peanut butter, try this recipe for Lacinato Kale and Mint Salad with Spicy Peanut Dressing. I topped it with scallops – it was awesome.

Oh She Glows

Our Hotel Manager at Ponte Vineyard Inn, Sarah, is Vegan. We always tend to forget this when we have a pot-luck or order food for the group. I have a bad habit of forgetting that vegetarian does not equal vegan. Sarah always forgives us, but I’ve decided that from now on I will just create something delicious from another one of our favorites – Oh She Glows.

This fantastic food site makes going vegan look easy – and delicious!

Thug Kitchen – NSFW

Ok, I’ll be honest. We mostly like this blog because it provides us with a HUGE amount of comic relief. If you are offended by vulgar language, please do not click this link, and please excuse us for being so immature. That being said, Thug Kitchen has great, healthy recipes, nice photos and seriously…it’s hilarious.

Of course, we love putting all our food knowledge to work by bringing you great recipes 8 times a year in our Wine Club newsletter. If you aren’t a Member, click here to read our past newsletters and get some great recipe and pairing ideas.
