Coming Up Short

Come late May and early June a few things change at Ponte. We start to see some warm weather, the vines really kick into gear and start growing, the flowers bloom and we get to start wearing shorts in The Restaurant at Ponte. It may not seem like a big deal, but to the winery’s restaurant associates who are hustling all day long in the 90 degree weather, it’s huge. How nice is it? Imagine running in sweat pants. Yeah, that’s how it feels to work in pants during the warmer months, so you can imagine how the transition to shorts feels.

Not only does it feel nice, but it looks good as well. It’s nice to break the routine of wearing pants (we’ve been wearing them since October) and switch to something a little different. Along with the shorts we get a chance to swap out the shoes we wear, too! We go from black shoes, which by this time are worn out and beaten up, to brand new white shoes for the summer. Believe it or not, it is quite refreshing.

So, the next time you visit us, be sure to stop by the Restaurant and take a peek at our new uniforms. Oh, and if you’re wondering whether shorts are acceptable attire in Temecula Wine Country, the answer if yes. Personally, I would rather be comfortable and drinking wine than sweating up a storm.

Cheers!
